Checkboxes are optional and can be turned on per outline in the Inspector.
Checkbox States
| State | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Empty square | Item is not complete |
| Checkmark | Item is complete |
| Dash (partial) | Some children are complete, some are not |
Tapping a checkbox cycles through these states. Parent checkboxes automatically reflect the state of their children — you don't need to check parents manually.
Hiding Completed Items
Enable Hide Completed Items in the Inspector to filter out checked items and see only remaining work.
Clearing Completed Items
Use the ⋯ menu → Clear Completed to permanently delete all checked items (confirmation required).
Check / Uncheck All Children
Long-press a parent item's checkbox to open a popover with Check All and Uncheck All options for that item's subtree.
