Creating an Outline
Tap + in the outline list toolbar. Enter a title and press Return or tap away to confirm.
Outline List Categories
The sidebar organizes your outlines into these sections:
| Category | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Pinned | Outlines you've pinned |
| Recent | Your 10 most recently opened outlines |
| All Outlines | Every outline you own |
| Shared | Outlines shared with you by others |
| Tags | Outlines filtered by tag |
| No Tags | Outlines with no tags assigned |
Outline Actions
Long-press (iOS) or right-click (Mac) an outline in the list to access:
- Pin / Unpin
- Duplicate — creates a copy of the entire outline including all items
- Delete — permanently removes the outline (confirmation required)
- Share — share via iCloud
- Export — export as an Outline Package (a
.codeoutlinerfolder)
Outline Settings (Inspector)
Open the Inspector to configure per-outline options:
- iOS: tap the sliders icon in the toolbar while viewing an outline
- macOS: View → Inspector, or the Inspector toolbar button
Inspector options include toggling checkboxes, notes, hiding completed items, and font size
